What is Scrip and How Does it Work?
Our Scrip program has earned school families and the parish thousands of dollars. It does not cost you any money to participate. The school/parish also directly benefits in scrip profit by over $10,000 per year.
It is simple to participate. You purchase gift cards/gift certificates for face value. We earn a % in dollars from every purchase. The school/parish earns a % of profit for every purchase. Twice a year you will be given a voucher statement from all of your earnings. You then redeem these vouchers towards the parish, a needy family sending their children to St. Catherine’s, or voucher checks can be written to any educational institution.
The program works because SCS purchases these gift cards in large volume at a discount. SCS shares this discount with you. The parish/school receives a % of the profit. Discount percentages vary and are reflected on the order form for each vendor listed.
The great news is that you already shop at these fine stores. Participating stores include:
Grocery Stores: Acme, Giant, Genuardi’s, Shop Rite, and Super Fresh.
Restaurants: Applebees, Outback, s, Macaroni Grill, Chilis, Olive Garden, Red Lobster, Pizza Hut, T.G.I Friday, & Starbucks.
Retail Stores: Sears, Lowe’s, Barnes & Noble, Bath & Body Works, Dick’s Sporting Goods, J.C. Penney, Kohl’s, Marshalls, T.J. Maxx, Old Navy, Staples, Rose Uniforms, Sports Authority, and Build A Bear Workshop.
Entertainment Stores: Itunes, Regal Cinema and Blockbuster Video

How Do I Purchase Scrip?
You may purchase scrip at the parish office during the hours of 9:15am – 12:00pm Monday, Wednesday. and Friday. Also Monday evenings during Prep at the school from 6:30pm until 7:15pm in room 2.

There are also several times per year when other scrip will be offered on a “Special Scrip” order. Specific dates for submission will be provided with those special orders.
How Much can I Earn Really? How Can I Use My Vouchers?
If a family purchases $500 monthly from Giant, they will earn $12.50 per month or 125.00 for 10 months. That is just for food! You can then use your vouchers for tuition for a needy family or a donation to the parish. (other Ed. Institutions) Vouchers are now prepared twice per year – in January for June through December sales and in May for January through May sales.
Why do Scrip Profit %s Vary?
Scrip is purchased at a discount. The SCS scrip program splits the discount with you up to 2.5% at this time. Some vendors offer a higher percentage than others. Giant and Shop Rite provide 2.5% in vouchers to you. Genuardi’s is 2.0% in vouchers. Other vendors offer lower %s such as CVS and WAWA. However, it is in volume that the program will work for you, our school, and our parish.
Regardless of the profit percentage, it all adds up! Don’t be discouraged if the percentage is low! Use the additional stores to supplement your groceries.
Where Do Scrip Profits Go?
The Home and School Association runs the SCRIP program. They use the revenues for upgrading programs, educational materials, school/parish physical plant improvements and technology. These profits are used for both parish and school.

“MARKET DAY” – What is it?
This is a fundraising food co-op affords our school the opportunity to increase its profits each month. Each month restaurant quality food products from reputable companies are available for purchase. Order forms are sent home one week before orders are due and can either be returned to school for processing or you can order for yourself by visiting the website. All orders are delivered to St. Catherine of Siena. Spend $100.00 in market day purchases and receive a $5.00 voucher toward your tuition.
