Choral Praise
Accompanied by Erik Aaron
Choral Praise is the main choir at Saint Catherine of Siena. This ensemble focuses on beautifully leading the music liturgy at Masses and enriching the musical experience. They mainly sing traditional Catholic hymns, but are always ready to throw a contemporary or ancient hymn in to enrich the liturgy. Their mission
statement is to encourage congregational participation. This choir sings at most major church holidays, including all three days of Triduum (Holy Thursday, Good
Friday, Easter Vigil), as well as Easter Sunday, Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, and the vigil of most of the Holy days of Obligation. Choral Praise specializes at singing a Hymn of Thanksgiving once a month—a piece that takes a little more time and energy to prepare.
Instrumentalists are invited to “guest star” on select pieces when need calls for them.
Practice: Wednesday nights 7:30-9:00 in the church
Scheduled Masses: 2nd Sunday of the month at 11:15, 4th Sunday of the month at 9:00 am, all major church holidays, and other special Masses as requested.

Hosanna is the most contemporary of the choral groups, utilizing guitars, drums (when appropriate), and a more folk-style of singing. This relaxed ensemble encompasses a comprehensive variety of styles of music for Mass from traditional sacred hymns through the music of the 21st century.
Practice: Thursday night before scheduled Mass

The group prides themselves on being able to read and sing from chant or square notation, although they readily have round notation pieces available for their singers. In addition to their regularly scheduled Mass, they also sing at the 7:00 pm service on Good Friday.
Practice: Select Sunday afternoons before scheduled Mass

Children between 4th and 12th grade are invited to join SCS Choristers!
The Choristers will assist on Christ the King Sunday, at the 9:00am Mass on November 20th and the Confirmation Mass, presided by Archbishop Perez, on November 30th at 4:00PM.
The rehearsals will be from 6:30PM - 7:45PM on Tuesdays throughout October and November in the church.
Parents are invited to the first rehearsal & information session at 6:30pm on Tuesday, October 4th with the children.
This will be a great opportunity to learn much about Liturgical Music, singing, general music theory, be counted toward music classes for the homeschoolers and raise our voices to serve the Lord.

Cantors are the leaders of song at our Masses. If you have a voice that can easily lead our congregation in song, this may be your calling. There are no formal practices for cantors, you just meet with your organist before Mass to rehearse hymns. Extra rehearsals can be arranged for if needed and any help is easily found with an email or phone call.
Scheduled Masses: All Saturday 5:00 pm Masses, Sunday Masses without ensembles, all done according to your preferences and schedule, as provided to the music director.
